just finished my last mid-term, which while very late in the general scheme of things, is still&nbsp;quite a big relief.&nbsp;&nbsp;economics is really not my strong<br />point.&nbsp; actually is probably the nadir of my skills if i'm being brutally honest. really just want to finish the stupid course and be done with the whole damn thing.&nbsp; weekend almost here though.&nbsp; and going to see 'run fatboy run' tonight which hopefully is good.<br /><br />am thinking of transitioning to a blog format in an effort to be more conscious of updating and also with the recent changes to livejournal.&nbsp; not that i've been particularly active on here of late but am hoping to become moreso again.&nbsp; let's face it, will probably end up with 27 consecutive posts during finals and then 2 posts during the entire summer.&nbsp; such is the charm of me.

HOLLER! just finished last mid-term of my arts degree. fabulous. v nice outside. snow floating softly to the ground in bright sunshine weather. made me feel like i was in a scene from grey's anatomy or similar and was contemplating how great my life was with smile on face getting progressively bigger as camera goes from shot of me walking and then zooms out to reveal beauty of scene. hurrah! now have just got to worry about 2 x 8page papers, 1 x 1/2 hour presentation, 2 x 20 page papers, and 3 final exams. but obviously will not worry about them till the last minute and therefore am free to watch mary tyler moore which i just bought on dvd. i might just make it after all! <lj:music>a kiss at the end of the rainbow - mitch and mickey</lj:music>

went to see brokeback mountain friday night and still cannot stop thinking how fantastic it was. it is the first film in a long time that has stuck with me so long. am feeling quite emotional from the circumstances in the film long after the last scene was shown. that being said, the last scene was perhaps the most poignant in the whole film. not only am sad but wish i had a boyfriend to be sad with, especially with valentine's day coming up so quickly. very annoying was the fact that people in the theatre were laughing at the film and that people on the way out were questioning the inclusion of a tame sex scene. sad that even people who go see brokeback mountain in alberta are still relatively homophobic. if that minority of the population are homophobic, then how many years will it take for homosexuality to become 'normal' here? the irony that this filmed was largely shot here is not beyond me.

holler.<br />things are pretty ok right now in ed. hurt my back and it is still painful but i got my prosperity cheque and am going shopping thisafternoon so it balances out. dan came up last weekend which was fantastic and robin ripped the ass of her pants while we were out which was funny. actually that night probably didn't help my back as i dipped nelle a few times and was dancing a lot. class is okay but i missed a week due to my stupid back so that sucks and now i have to catch up. going to see brokeback mountain this weekend and am v excited. not doing much else this weekend to be honest. lots of studying to do. although being honest will probably end up getting drunk saturday night somehow. don't think i've ever had a saturday night off and not ended up going out. just realized this is a tediously boring entry. oh well, YOU READ IT, YOU CAN'T UN-READ IT!!!!

so it's been a long long time since i updated this site. to be honest i have been a little consumed with side projects. things are going well as the new year gets into full swing. back at class now which is actually going really well. the last semester of this degree looks to be a good one. not too much exciting is going on right now. work is okay, i am pretty happy. actually a better phrase would be hopelessly buoyant. i am randomly very happy at the minute. there is no specific thing i could pin it down too but i am just generally very happy. i enrolled in a really cool film course that is all about contemporary american films so we are doing stuff like the matrix, rambo, toy story and terminator. its pretty cool and even better there is no text book which is awesome. i have been too lazy to take down the 40 'holler!'s that are posted all over my apartment from jo-ann's birthday but they are starting to get a bit much so i may have to get off my ass and do that soon. this is a bit of a rambling post, but i also invented a new drink! it's called green ginger jack and it is fantastic and ( as you may have guessed) is made with jack daniels, but also green ginger tea and elderflower syrup. fantastic. okay, i'm done now.

    <lj:music>i've got a life - eurythmics</lj:music>

fabulous weekend. binge-drinking at its most fabulous. don't remember so many specific details except being extremely happy and surrounded by wonderful friends. really just a memorable amazing night at suite 69 which started at the apartment with a simple drinking game proceeding on to some excessive use of the word cunt and some problems with pointing. then a big fall. later on far too much dipping and definitely too much dropping, followed by a hideously embarrassing incident that involved sambuca, a dirty bar, and a straw. perhaps one of most strangely low/high points of my life. like a nexus of sleezy fabulousness. e.g. doing coke of a dead hooker. was all charlotte's fault anyway, completely forced.

oh my. so i am going home to calgary tonight for the weekend and therefore due to scheduling difficulties at work i had to open at 5:30am. i have a 10 page paper due today on linguistics and the mind which i procrastinated away until last night when i still managed to watch the block, the apprentice and a documentary on fag hags. then in order to make up for all of the tv i ended up staying up all night in order to write this stupid paper. then even though i stayed up all night i managed to find other things to do and didn't even finish the paper fully. so i go to work at 5:30 and it sucks but i get off at 10:30 and race here to school to finish the paper which is now sitting at 9 1/2 pages which lets face it is 10 pages in my book. even though i did do some word trickery to extend it ever so slightly. i really only want to pass this stupid assignment as i know the reason i can't summon the slightest of motivation to do it is because i find it tedious beyond all reason. the assignment was to do a <i>synoptic review</i> of chapters 1, 2 and 4 from what is quite possibly the most dull, dry and infuriating textbook i have ever had the displeasure of spending a ridiculous amount of money on. that being said, in 90 minutes school will be done for the weekend and i will soon be on my way home for a weekend of relaxing in the sun. it's still summer in calgary right?

ok, so ages since i last posted. sorry sandra, i did not get your messgage until today. have not been on here for over a month at least. so in the two months since i last posted not a whole lot has happened. i went to calgary for 2 weeks and basically spent most of my time with my nanna who was visiting from england. also it was my parents 25th wedding anniversary! i am very much enjoying my new apartment which is starting to feel like a real home. last night i had a terrifying dream and subsequently had to get up and search the whole apartment. it was very strange. i was trying to tell candace something was behind her but i could not speak! a lot scarier than it sounds, anyway. i have not seen much of anyone these days. nelle is working on a movie with doogie howser and rebecca gayheart. she is making sandwiches. doogie and r-gay: the movie sounds very fun and i wish i was working making all that money. most of my friends seem to be working a lot these days or spending time with there boyfriends. i am reaching the point in my life where all of my friends are pairing off and it is not a good thing. where have all the singles gone? now i only really have falafel! i have candace and the clap but they are in calgary. anyway, things are good. school starting in a month already, seems to have come from no where. hopefully will have some visitors before school starts again (dan, charlotte, matt, heather, the clap, candace).

so me and dan went on a mini alberta adventure road trip on sunday and it was awesome. we saw the gigantic sausage in mundare, the giant ukrainian easter egg, the world's first ufo landing site in st. paul, the giant perogy in glendon and some giant mushrooms. it was sweet. who knew so much random crap lay within driving distance of edmonton? the ufo landing was by far the worst thing that we saw. pointless and weird and definitely not big enough for a real ufo to land on. school is almost over which is pretty shocking. i'm actually taking a personal day today to catch up on studying and do my laundry. the new doctor who starts tonight on cbc which looks cool excpet for billie "because we want to" piper being the new sidekick. apparently they've already planned a second season but chris eccleston is already finished being the doctor so another one will have to be found. also amazing race on tonight. studying sucks. so does laundry. oh well at least have nice lunch to look forward to. must try and stay away from e true hollywood story though.
